With all of the rumors flying around it is hard to not be extremely interested in the iPhone 5! It is said Apple will be sending out the master build of iOS 5 to carriers for approval September 23rd. The carriers will be expected to give that approval by October 5th, so that the new cellular device can hit shelves sometime in October. The iOS 5 software update itself should be available on iTunes sometime after everything has been properly approved and Apple installs the platform to the devices. Apple is set to build and ship more than 30 million iPhone 5′s by the end of 2011.

The carrier said to finally take on the iPhone handset? Sprint. Who has managed to stay in the number three spot of the U.S. cellular world without any iPhone material. And it seems the phone company plans on sticking it to the competitors by maintaining the unlimited data plans they currently offer. If this is the case, AT&T and Verizon could lose customers, due to those companies not offering unlimited internet on any iPhone devices. The only way a consumer has an unlimited data plan with an iPhone now-a-days is if they were grandfathered into it. Sprint is also supposedly going to take on the iPhone 4 as well, allowing their clients to have the cheaper option for the trend setting device. There have been claims that Sprint will be the only carrier with a 4G iPhone. Supporting this would be that Verizon’s new LTE (long term evolution) network is incomplete, and AT&T’s only exists in theory. With Sprint embracing the 4G network on an iPhone, this could be a huge plus for the company. Since that is not completely factual, we will also have to keep in mind employees will say anything to keep customers. Along with these iPhone 5 rumors for Sprint, come iPad 3 rumors! 9to5Mac said this to confirm reports of a device ready to be launched.
“Apple and Sprint have completed work on a version of the iPad for Sprint’s data network. This Sprint compatible iPad appears to be ready for public consumption and will join the family of GSM (AT&T) and Verizon capable Apple tablets before the holidays. With Apple soon launching a Sprint version of the iPhone – which we independently confirmed in June – we suspect that the Sprint iPad will come alongside or soon after that release. The iPhone 5 release is still scheduled for October 7th according to our source (and others), but changes/delays are always possible.”

One of the perks a lot of consumers were most interested in is the completely redesigned antenna system. If you remember, the iPhone 4 launch had an antenna nightmare. The reception of the iPhone 4 was drastically reduced when a hand covered the bottom left and right corners. So, the new antenna system will be a breath of fresh air. I mean, we still use our phones to talk, right? Those close to the project have leaked the iPhone 5 to be more sleek, thin, with an improved digital camera, and more sophisticated operating system. With the better camera tale, comes whispers of 3D picture taking. This mechanism will be equipped with iMessage, which will compete with Blackberry’s Blackberry Messenger. iMessage will allow communication between those with an iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. Another new feature, the iCloud application, for wireless remote access of music from all computers and mobile devices. It will also allow users to store photos, apps, calendars and documents without having them to store in the phone’s memory. The iPhone 5 will house the A5 processor which is used in the iPad 2, meaning twice the work can be done at once. There are allegations of a keyboard and pull out battery. I am not too sure if I believe those two, being that the iPhone is touch screen driven and has never had a battery to remove. Pre-sales are already being planned, and some believe the iPhone 5 will be released closer to October 23rd, which will be the 10 year mark from the first iPod. I’m almost positive I will stick with my Evo, but will you be purchasing the iPhone 5?
